Sorting hat
The first year at Hogwarts, each student is assigned a house according to their characteristics. The Sorting Hat does the heavy lifting, putting students in the most appropriate House to test them. It’s a great opportunity for one to test their strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is imaginative and magical. It was invented by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat which was the property of Godric Gryffindor. It is also used to determine the students who will be placed in the Hogwarts Hostel by the Founders of Hogwarts.

The Sorting Hat can be used to determine which house a student should live in. It is able to read the wearer’s thoughts, respond to the wearer’s thoughts, and even speak to the wearer. It is also used to determine which House students belong to, and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy.

Room of Requirement
The Room of Requirement was a key part of Harry’s Hogwarts experience. Aside from the fact that it provided Harry with his first (and final) Horcrux It was also the place where Voldemort’s lost diadem was kept. In fact, the Room of Requirement was so mysterious that it took the best part of the year for Dumbledore to unmask its nefarious past.

The room also houses various odd-looking artifacts, such as the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact in its own right. It also contains the legilimen, a device that uses legitmization in order to read minds. While this is a harder task than many wizards would have you believe it is being only performed by a few.
