Sorting hat
Every student is assigned an Hogwarts house during their first year. This is dependent on their personality. The Sorting Hat handles the heavy lifting and puts students in the best House to test their character. It’s a great opportunity for one to test their strengths and weaknesses.
The Sorting Hat is creative and magical. It was created by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat which was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by the Founders of Hogwarts to decide the students to put in their Houses.
The Sorting Hat also performs a number of functions beyond determining the house to which a student should be assigned. It can read the wearer’s thoughts and respond to their thoughts. It can even speak to them. It is also used to determine the House students belong to, and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.
Required Room
The Room of Requirement was a crucial part of Harry’s Hogwarts experience. In addition to the fact that it provided Harry with his first (and last) horocracy, it was also the place where Voldemort’s diadem, which was lost, was kept. The Room of Requirement was so obscure that it took Dumbledore nearly a year to uncover its dark past.
The room is also home to various odd-looking artifacts, including the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact in its own right. It also contains the legilimen, which utilizes legitmization in order to read minds. Although this is a more difficult task than many wizards would have you believe it is actually only performed by a few.
