Sorting hat
In the first year of Hogwarts, each student is assigned one of the houses that is based on their characteristics. The Sorting Hat handles the heavy lifting and puts students in the best House to challenge their personality. It’s a great way to test one’s strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is a clever enchanted object. It was designed by J.K. Rowling, and is a nod to the magician’s hat, which was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It also serves to determine which students will be placed in the Hogwarts Houses by the Founders of Hogwarts.

The Sorting Hat also performs various other tasks, in addition to determining which house a student needs to be assigned. It is able to read the wearer’s mind and respond to wearer’s thoughts, and even talk to the wearer. It also helps determine the House a student belongs to, and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

Room of Requirement
During Harry’s time at Hogwarts The Room of Requirement played a crucial role in the story. It was not just the place the location where Harry received his first (and final) horcrux but it was also the place the place where Voldemort discovered his diadem that he had lost. The Room of Requirement was so mysterious that it took Dumbledore nearly a whole year to discover its dark past.

The room also houses various odd-looking artifacts like the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact that is its own. It also contains the legilimen, a device that uses legitmization in order to read minds. While this is a harder task than most wizards would have you believe, it has been only performed by a few.
