The Sorting Hat also serves various other tasks, in addition to the decision of which house a student needs to be assigned. It can read the wearer’s mind and react to their thoughts. It is even able to speak to them. It is also used to determine which House students belong to and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

It was not just the place where Harry obtained his first (and final) Horcrux, but it was also where Voldemort discovered his diadem that he had lost. In actual fact the Room of Requirement was so enigmatic that it took the best part of a year Dumbledore to reveal its dark past.

The room is also home to a variety of odd artifacts, such as the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact that is its own. The hat also boasts the legilimen, which uses legitmization to read minds. This isn’t an easy task but it has been successfully completed by a handful of.
