In the first year of Hogwarts students are assigned an appropriate house according to their personality traits. The Sorting Hat does the heavy lifting, placing students into the most suitable House to test them. It’s a great way to discover the strengths and weaknesses of a person.
The Sorting Hat is an imaginative enchanted object. It was created by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat that was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It also serves to determine which students will be placed in the Hogwarts Houses by the Founders of Hogwarts.
The Sorting Hat can be used to determine the house a student should live in. It is able to read the wearer’s mind and respond to the wearer’s thoughts, and even speak to the wearer. It can be used to determine the House in which a student is from and to present the Sword of Gryffindor only to those who are qualified.
Required Room
During Harry’s time at Hogwarts, the Room of Requirement played a crucial role in the story. It was not just the place the location where Harry received his first (and final) Horcrux, but it was also the place where Voldemort discovered his diadem that he had lost. In actuality, the Room of Requirement was so mysterious that it took the best part of a year for Dumbledore to reveal its dark past.
The room is also home to an array of oddball artifacts, such as the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact in its own right. The hat also features the legilimen, which uses legitmization to read minds. This is a difficult task but it has been successfully completed by a handful.
