Sorting hat
In the first year of Hogwarts, each student is assigned a house according to their personality traits. The Sorting Hat does the heavy lifting, placing students in the most suitable House to test them. It’s a great way for students to test their strengths and weaknesses.
The Sorting Hat is imaginative and magical. It was invented by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat which was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It also serves to determine the students who will be placed in the Hogwarts Hostel by the Founders of Hogwarts.
The Sorting Hat also serves a number of functions beyond the simple task of determining which house a student needs to be assigned. It is able to read the wearer’s thoughts and respond to their thoughts. It is even able to speak to them. It can be used to determine the House which a student comes from and to present the Sword of Gryffindor only to those who are qualified.
Room of Requirement
The Room of Requirement was a important aspect of Harry’s Hogwarts experience. Apart from it providing Harry with his first (and last) horcrux It was also the place the place where Voldemort’s diadem, which was lost, was hidden. The Room of Requirement was so obscure that it took Dumbledore almost a year to discover its dark past.
The room also houses a range of odd artifacts, including the Sorting Hat, which is an artifact that is sapient. The hat also features the legilimen, which uses legitmization to read minds. While this is a trickier task than the majority of wizards would like you to believe it is actually performed by a select few.
