Sorting hat
The first year at Hogwarts, each student is assigned an appropriate house according to their characteristics. The Sorting Hat does the heavy lifting, putting students in the best House to test them. It’s a great opportunity to determine one’s strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is imaginative and magical. It was created by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat which was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by Hogwarts’ Founders of Hogwarts to decide which students they will place in their Houses.

The Sorting Hat also performs many other functions, besides the simple task of determining which house a student should be assigned. It is able to listen to the wearer’s thoughts and respond to the wearer’s thoughts, and even speak to the wearer. It is also used to determine which House the student is a member of, and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

Required Room
The Room of Requirement was a crucial part of Harry’s Hogwarts experience. It was not just where Harry obtained his first (and final) Horcrux, but it was also the place where Voldemort discovered his diadem. The Room of Requirement was so mysterious that it took Dumbledore nearly a year to uncover its dark past.

The room is also home to an array of oddball artifacts like the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact in its own right. It also contains the legilimen, which utilizes legitmization in order to read minds. Although this is a more difficult task than the majority of wizards would like you to believe, it has been only performed by a few.
