The Sorting Hat takes care of the heavy lifting and places students in the right House to test their character. It’s a great opportunity for one to test their strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is an enchanted and clever object. It was invented by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat that belonged to Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by the Founders of Hogwarts to decide which students they will place in their Houses.

The Sorting Hat can be used to determine the house a student should live in. It can read the wearer’s mind and react to their thoughts. It is even able to speak to them.
