The Sorting Hat takes care of the heavy lifting and puts students in the most appropriate House to test their personality. It’s a great opportunity to test out your strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is imaginative and magical. It was created by J.K. Rowling, and is a nod to the magician’s hat which was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by Hogwarts’ Founders of Hogwarts to decide the students to put in their Houses.

The Sorting Hat also performs various other tasks, in addition to the simple task of determining the house to which a student should be assigned. It is able to read the wearer’s mind and respond to wearer’s thoughts, and even talk to the wearer. It can also be used to determine the House which a student comes from and to present the Sword of Gryffindor only to those who have the qualifications.

Room of Requirement

Apart from the fact that it provided Harry with his first (and last) horcrux It was also the place the location where Voldemort’s lost diadem was kept. The Room of Requirement was so obscure that it took Dumbledore nearly a year to uncover its dark past.

The room also houses an array of oddball artifacts, including the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact of its own. The hat also features the legilimen, which uses legitmization to read minds. This is a difficult task but it has been successfully completed by a few.
