Sorting hat
Each student is assigned an Hogwarts house during their first year. This is dependent on their personality. The Sorting Hat does the heavy lifting, placing students into the most appropriate House to challenge them. It’s a great opportunity for one to test their strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is an enchanted and clever object. It was designed by J.K. Rowling, and is a reference to the magician’s hat, which was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It is also used to determine which students will be placed in the Hogwarts Houses , as decided by the Founders of Hogwarts.

The Sorting Hat also performs a number of functions beyond determining the house to which a student should be assigned. It can read the wearer’s thoughts and respond to wearer’s thoughts, and even talk to the wearer. It can be used to determine the House in which a student is from and to give the Sword of Gryffindor only to those who are qualified.

Room of Requirement
The Room of Requirement was a crucial element of Harry’s Hogwarts experience. In addition to it providing Harry with his first (and final) horcrux, it was also where Voldemort’s lost diadem was kept. In actuality the Room of Requirement was so enigmatic that it took the most enigmatic part of the year for Dumbledore to unmask its nefarious past.

The room is also home to an array of oddball artifacts, such as the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact of its own. The hat also boasts the legilimen, which uses legitmization to read minds. Although this is a more difficult task than most wizards would have you believe it is being only performed by a few.
