The Sorting Hat is imaginative and magical. It was invented by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat that belonged to Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by the Founders of Hogwarts to decide the students to put in their Houses.

The Sorting Hat also serves many other functions, besides the decision of which house a student needs to be assigned. It can listen to the wearer’s thoughts and respond to wearer’s thoughts, and even talk to the wearer. It can be used to determine the House in which a student is from and to present the Sword of Gryffindor only to those who have the qualifications.

Room of Requirement
The Room of Requirement was a key aspect of Harry’s Hogwarts experience. It was not only the place where Harry received his first (and final) horcrux but it was also the location where Voldemort found his lost diadem. In actuality, the Room of Requirement was so mysterious that it took the most enigmatic part of the year for Dumbledore to reveal its dark past.

The room also houses a range of odd-looking artifacts like the Sorting Hat, which is an ancient artifact. The hat also houses the legilimen, a device that uses legitmization to read minds. This is a difficult task but it has been achieved by a few.
