The Sorting Hat can also be used to determine what house a student should live in. It can read the wearer’s thoughts and respond to the wearer’s thoughts, and even speak to the wearer. It also helps determine the House the student is a member of and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

Required Room
During Harry’s time at Hogwarts The Room of Requirement played a crucial role in the story. It was not just where Harry received his first (and final) Horcrux, but it was also the place where Voldemort discovered his diadem that he had lost.
