Sorting hat
Each student is assigned the Hogwarts house in their first year. This is dependent on their personality. The Sorting Hat does the heavy lifting and puts students in the right House to test their personality. It’s a great opportunity for one to test their strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is clever and magical. It was designed by J.K. Rowling, and is a reference to the magician’s hat which was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by Hogwarts’ Founders of Hogwarts to decide which students they will place in their Houses.

The Sorting Hat also serves many other functions, besides the decision of the house to which a student should be assigned. It is able to read the wearer’s mind and respond to their thoughts. It is even able to speak to them. It can also be used to determine the House where a student is from and to give the Sword of Gryffindor only to those who are qualified.

Room of Requirement
During Harry’s time at Hogwarts The Room of Requirement played a pivotal role in the series. In addition to providing Harry with his first (and last) horocracy, it was also the place where Voldemort’s diadem, which was lost, was kept. In actuality the Room of Requirement was so mysterious that it took the most enigmatic part of a year for Dumbledore to reveal its dark past.

The room also houses various odd-looking artifacts like the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact in its own right. It also contains the legilimen, which utilizes legitmization in order to read minds. While this is a trickier task than many wizards would like you to believe, it has been done by a small group of.
