The Sorting Hat is a clever enchanted object. It was invented by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat that was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It is also used to determine which students will be placed in the Hogwarts Houses , as decided by the Founders of Hogwarts.

The Sorting Hat can also be used to determine which house a student should live in. It is able to read the wearer’s thoughts and respond to their thoughts. It can even talk to them. It can also be used to determine which House a student belongs to and to award the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

Room of Requirement

Apart from it providing Harry with his first (and final) horocracy and a horcrux, it also served as the location the location where Voldemort’s lost diadem was kept. The Room of Requirement was so mysterious that it took Dumbledore almost a year to uncover its dark past.

The room also contains a number of oddball artifacts including the Sorting Hat, which is an ancient artifact. It also contains a legilimen, which uses legitmization in order to read minds. Although this is a more difficult task than many wizards would have you believe it is being performed by a select few.
