Sorting hat
Every student is assigned an Hogwarts house in their first year. This is determined by their personality. The Sorting Hat does the heavy lifting and puts students in the most appropriate House to test their personality. It’s a great opportunity to discover the strengths and weaknesses of a person.

The Sorting Hat is an imaginative enchanted object. It was invented by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat which belonged to Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by the Founders of Hogwarts to decide the students to put in their Houses.

The Sorting Hat can be used to determine what house a student should live in. It is able to listen to the wearer’s thoughts and respond to wearer’s thoughts, and even talk to the wearer. It is also used to determine which House the student is a member of, and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

Required Room
During Harry’s time at Hogwarts, the Room of Requirement played a pivotal role in the series. In addition to providing Harry with his first (and last) horcrux, it was also where Voldemort’s lost diadem was hidden. The Room of Requirement was so obscure that it took Dumbledore nearly a year to uncover its dark past.

The area is also home to an array of oddball artifacts, including the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact in its own right. The hat also contains the legilimen, a device that uses legitmization in order to read minds. This is a difficult task but it has been achieved by a handful.
