The Sorting Hat can also be used to determine the house a student should live in. It is able to read a wearer’s mind and react to their thoughts. It is even able to speak to them. It also helps determine the House a student belongs to and to award the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

The Room of Requirement was a important part of Harry’s Hogwarts experience. It was not just the place where Harry received his first (and final) horcrux but also the location where Voldemort found his lost diadem. The Room of Requirement was so mysterious that it took Dumbledore nearly a year to unravel its dark history.

The area is also home to various odd-looking artifacts like the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact in its own right. It also contains the legilimen, a device that uses legitmization to read minds.
