Sorting hat
During the first year at Hogwarts the students are assigned an appropriate house based on the student’s personality traits. The Sorting Hat takes care of the heavy lifting and places students in the best House to test their character. It’s a great way to test one’s strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is an imaginative enchanted object. It was created by J.K. Rowling, and is a reference to the magician’s hat, which was owned by Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by the Founders of Hogwarts to decide the students to put in their Houses.

The Sorting Hat also serves a number of functions beyond the decision of the house to which a student should be assigned. It can read the wearer’s thoughts and respond to the wearer’s thoughts, and even speak to the wearer. It can also be used to determine which House the student is a member of, and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy.

Room of Requirement
During Harry’s time at Hogwarts The Room of Requirement played a crucial role in the story. Apart from it providing Harry with his first (and final) horocracy, it was also the location where Voldemort’s lost diadem was hidden. In fact the Room of Requirement was so enigmatic that it took the best part of a year Dumbledore to uncover its sinister past.

The room also contains a number of odd-looking artifacts like the Sorting Hat, which is an artifact that is sapient. It also has a legilimen that uses legitmization to read minds. While this is a harder task than the majority of wizards would like you to believe, it has been only performed by a few.

Chapter House
