The Sorting Hat takes care of the heavy lifting and places students in the best House to challenge their personality. It’s a great opportunity for students to test their strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is imaginative and magical. It was created by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat which was the property of Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by Hogwarts’ Founders of Hogwarts to decide which students to place in their Houses.

The Sorting Hat can also be used to determine what house a student should live in. It can listen to the wearer’s thoughts and respond to the wearer’s thoughts, and even speak to the wearer. It can be used to determine the House in which a student is from and also to present the Sword of Gryffindor only to those who have the qualifications.

Required Room
During Harry’s time at Hogwarts The Room of Requirement played a crucial role in the story. Apart from it providing Harry with his first (and final) Horcrux and a horcrux, it also served as the location where Voldemort’s lost diadem was kept. The Room of Requirement was so obscure that it took Dumbledore nearly a whole year to discover its dark past.

The room also houses an array of oddball artifacts like the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact that is its own. The hat also boasts a legilimen that uses legitmization to read minds. While this is a trickier task than most wizards would have you believe it is actually performed by a select few.
