The Sorting Hat can be used to determine the house a student is best placed in. It is able to listen to the wearer’s thoughts and respond to wearer’s thoughts, and even speak to the wearer. It can also be used to determine which House students belong to, and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

Required Room
During Harry’s time at Hogwarts The Room of Requirement played a important role in the Harry Potter series. In addition to providing Harry with his first (and last) horcrux and a horcrux, it also served as the location where Voldemort’s lost diadem was kept. Library

The Chamber of Secrets was constructed by Salazar Slytherin prior to his departure from Hogwarts. It was designed to eliminate the school’s students who were Muggle-born. The Chamber of Secrets is deep beneath Hogwarts’ school. It is the home of the old Basilisk. When Dumbledore’s army is betrayed by the enemy, the Chamber is left open. It also houses floor cushions that can be used to defend against Dark Detectors and defensive spells. The Chamber also contains an embodied memory from Tom Riddle, who was killed by Harry Potter.

The Chamber of Secrets is also home to two serpents, in the solid wall of the Room. They have eyes that are emerald-colored. They are believed to be summoned by Tom Riddle.
