The Chamber of Secrets was constructed by Salazar Slytherin prior to his departure from Hogwarts. It was designed to rid the school of students who were born in the wizarding world. The Chamber of Secrets lies deep beneath Hogwarts school. It is the home of the old Basilisk. The Chamber is left open after Dumbledore’s army gets betrayed.
