Sorting hat
Each student is assigned the Hogwarts house during their first year. This is dependent on their personality. The Sorting Hat does the heavy lifting, placing students in the most suitable House to challenge them. It’s a great way for one to test their strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is creative and magical. It was invented by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat which was the property of Godric Gryffindor. It is also used by the Founders of Hogwarts to decide the students to put in their Houses.

The Sorting Hat can be used to determine what house a student should live in. It is able to read the wearer’s mind and respond to wearer’s thoughts, and even talk to the wearer. It also helps determine which House students belong to, and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

Room of Requirement
The Room of Requirement was a key part of Harry’s Hogwarts experience. In addition to providing Harry with his first (and final) horocracy It was also the place the place where Voldemort’s diadem, which was lost, was kept. In fact the Room of Requirement was so mysterious that it took the best part of a year Dumbledore to reveal its dark past.

The area is also home to various odd-looking artifacts, such as the Sorting Hat, a sapient artifact that is its own. The hat also houses the legilimen, which utilizes legitmization to read minds. Although this is a more difficult task than many wizards would like you to believe it is actually performed by a select few.
