Sorting hat
In the first year of Hogwarts, each student is assigned an appropriate house according to their characteristics. The Sorting Hat does the heavy lifting, putting students in the most suitable House to test them. It’s a great way for one to test their strengths and weaknesses.

The Sorting Hat is clever and magical. It was created by J.K. Rowling and pays tribute to the magician’s hat that belonged to Godric Gryffindor. It also serves to determine which students will be placed in the Hogwarts Hostel by the Founders of Hogwarts.

The Sorting Hat can also be used to determine which house a student should live in. It is able to read the wearer’s thoughts and respond to their thoughts. It is even able to speak to them. It also helps determine the House a student belongs to and to present the Sword of Gryffindor to those who are worthy of it.

Required Room
The Room of Requirement was a crucial part of Harry’s Hogwarts experience. It was not just the place where Harry received his first (and final) horcrux but it was also the place the location where Voldemort discovered his diadem that he had lost. In actuality the Room of Requirement was so enigmatic that it took the most enigmatic part of a year Dumbledore to uncover its sinister past.

The room also houses a range of odd-looking artifacts like the Sorting Hat, which is a sapient artifact. The hat also boasts the legilimen, which uses legitmization to read minds. While this is a harder task than most wizards would like you to believe it is actually only performed by a few.
